Starting Pay: $18.68 hourly

General Description:

The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Specialist is primarily responsible for conducting reviews of crime incident reports and supplemental reports, assigning proper classification, and coding to the reports, and submitting monthly crime and arrest data to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED, AND
  • Three (3) years of general clerical/secretarial work experience.
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
  • Must successfully complete and pass required skills testing.

Background Screening: This position will require an extensive background investigation and drug screening.

Essential Functions:

  • Classifies reports into definable categories for National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) reporting to FDLE and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • Performs specialized and technical clerical and record keeping duties with minimum supervision.
  • Evaluates criminal cases with proper closure codes to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Proofs and verifies source data, records, or coded information.
  • Receives and enters intake reports into the Records Management System (RMS).
  • Performs duties utilizing operational systems such as CAD/RMS, CJIS, Clerk of Court, and STAC.
  • Maintains and updates reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Works directly with Law Enforcement Officers requesting specialized information or services.
  • Accurately types various documents, forms, memorandums, and technical reports.
  • Addresses routine or general questions relative to procedures, policy, or operations.
  • Researches and assembles a variety of data from office records for incorporation into various reports.
  • May be exposed to reports that contain graphic and disturbing details on violent crimes.
  • Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and local ordinances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions:

  • General office setting with most duties being performed while sitting at a desk, table, or workstation.
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.
  • Must be able to remain available to work when a public emergency or disaster occurs.

  • VSO General Orders and procedures.
  • Overall functions, responsibilities, and services rendered by the unit.
  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ambulate independently.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
  • See at normal range or with reasonable accommodation.

  • Occasionally bend, squat, reach, grasp.
